Background

Born in Tofo in 2013, Mafu Haus is a luxury four-room hotel that cherishes craft skills, culture, trees, and bees. A rewilding dream manifest. It is set on a gentle hill overlooking the golden Bay of Inhambane and enveloped by Nhamua’s farming and fishing community. Since beginning our journey we have planted over 1,500 native trees, welcomed eight new bee hives to our ten-hectare estate, and partnered with our neighbours to improve local water and electricity supply. There is a lifetime of good work with good people ahead.

Our built structures are crafted of rammed earth, we use solar energy for power and serve locally sourced vegetarian cuisine.
