During 2024 we will expand and adjust our spaces for another magical phase to begin at Mafu Haus. In essence, we are moving towards an open hub for purpose-driven workshops and events focused on craft skills, the arts, ecosystem restoration, wellness, and sustainability innovation.

Background

Born in Tofo in 2013, Mafu Haus is a rustic hotel folded into a rewilding and arts initiative. It is set on a gentle hill overlooking the golden Bay of Inhambane, enveloped by Nhamua’s farming and fishing community. Culture, craft, wellness, and nature are our passions. Since beginning our journey we have planted over 1500 native trees, welcomed 7 new bee hives to our land, and partnered with our neighbours to improve local water and electricity supply. There is a lifetime of good work with good people ahead.

At Mafu Haus, seeing beauty in nature is your fortune and our great work. Our built structures are crafted of rammed earth and we run on 100% renewable energy, vegetarian cuisine, and gratitude.
